Over the past four weeks, Le Monnot Theatre has hosted a vibrant mix of Arabic- and French-language performances that drew full houses and enthusiastic applause. From bold contemporary works such as “Humains” by Swiss artist Narcisee, and the French comedy “Liberee Divorcee”, to a bold exploration of identity and cultural clash in “Bi Barcelona” by Lucien Bou Rjeily and a reimagined staging of a classic Swedish play “The Father” by Garcess Kanaan, each evening offered something unique.
Looking ahead, our upcoming lineup promises to keep the momentum going. June will feature emotionally rich solo performances by Anjo Rihane in “Chou Mnelbos?” and Joe El Khoury in “Bil Sebe3”. In “Jarret Ghas Speciale”, performers Cynthya Karam and Joseph Zeituny will explore the weight of collective trauma and the path toward healing through intertwining personal and political histories, and “Number 23” by Pia Khalil, winner of Le Monnot D’Or, dives into identity and and power. On a lighter note, immersive magic shows by Benjamin Lycan, and the heartfelt play Ramdam au Gymnase, which takes on the important topic of bullying at school, are our upcoming family-friendly shows, will be perfect for younger audiences. As always, our programming is curated to be daring, diverse, and deeply resonant.
